First Home Buyer — General Information for First-Home Buyers
Provided by Queen City Law NZ Limited
-
First Home Buyer is a one-stop hub of general information for people looking to buy their first home. Through this website, Queen City Law NZ Limited (“QCL”, “we”, “us”) brings together helpful information on things like the home-buying process, first-home buyer eligibility, KiwiSaver first-home withdrawals, and developments that may be of interest — all in one place, so you can make more informed decisions.
-
No. Everything on this website is general information only. It’s not legal, financial, or investment advice, and it isn’t tailored to your personal situation. It’s meant to help you understand the basics and point you in the right direction, not to replace advice from your own qualified professional.
-
No. There’s no cost to you for using this website or the general information it provides.
-
Yes. Before you sign anything, buy a property, or use your KiwiSaver, you should get advice from your own independent lawyer. They can:
review the sale and purchase agreement before you sign;
carry out due diligence on the property;
advise you on your finance, including any KiwiSaver first-home withdrawal; and
act for you on settlement (conveyancing).
If you’d like QCL to act for you on your conveyancing, we’ll first run a conflict check, if we already act for the other party to your purchase (for example, a developer or vendor), we won’t be able to act for you, and we’ll let you know so you can arrange another lawyer.
-
Yes, from time to time this website may feature information about specific developments that could be of interest to first-home buyers. Any such information is general in nature and should be independently verified (including directly with the developer) before you rely on it.
-
If you choose to register your details or make an enquiry, we may ask for things like your contact details and some general information to help us share relevant content or developments with you. Please see our Privacy Policy for full detail on how we handle your information.
-
We do our best to keep information accurate and current, but rules, criteria, and development details can change. Always check anything important, especially figures, dates, or eligibility criteria, against an official source or your own adviser before relying on it. See our Disclaimer for more detail.
