Provided by Queen City Law NZ Limited | Last updated: 18 August 2026

1. Introduction

Queen City Law NZ Limited (“QCL”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, hold, disclose, and protect personal information in connection with this website and our property buyer sourcing and introduction service for developers (the “Service”).

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect from: - prospective first- home buyers who register interest, make enquiries, or provide information through this website or in connection with the Service; and - developer/vendor clients and their representatives, to the extent they are individuals.

This Privacy Policy is prepared to comply with the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ) and the Information Privacy Principles (“IPPs”) set out in it.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use this website or provide us with personal information.

2. What personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact information — name, date of birth, phone number, email address, postal/residential address.

  • Financial and eligibility information — information relevant to assessing eligibility as a first-home buyer, such as first-home buyer status, KiwiSaver membership and first-home withdrawal eligibility, indicative budget, mortgage pre-approval status, and lender/broker details (where you choose to share these).

  • Household information — information about co-purchasers, dependants, or household composition, where relevant to eligibility criteria set by a developer.

  • Communications — records of enquiries, correspondence, and instructions between you and us.

  • Technical information — IP address, browser type, device information, and website usage data collected via cookies or similar technology (see clause 8 below).

We do not ask you to provide, and you should not send us, highly sensitive information (such as health information) unless we specifically request it and explain why.

3. How we collect personal information

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you, when you complete a form on this website, register interest in a development, or otherwise contact us;

  • from a developer/vendor client, where the developer has referred or provided your details to us for the purpose of the Service (for example, where you have separately expressed interest in a development directly with the developer);

  • from a mortgage broker, lender, or other party you have authorised to share information with us; and

  • automatically, through your use of this website (see clause 8).

Where practicable, we collect personal information directly from the individual concerned.

4. Why we collect and how we use personal information

We collect and use personal information for the following purposes:

  1. to assess whether a prospective buyer meets the eligibility criteria set by a developer/vendor client for a particular development (for example, first-home buyer status, indicative finance position, or KiwiSaver eligibility);

  2. to introduce qualifying prospective buyers to a developer/vendor client;

  3. to provide general information about a development to a prospective buyer;

  4. to communicate with prospective buyers and developer/vendor clients about the Service;

  5. to enable a developer/vendor client to progress a sale process with an introduced buyer;

  6. to comply with our professional, legal, and regulatory obligations as a law firm, including under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006, applicable conduct and client care rules, and anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism (“AML/CFT”) legislation, where applicable; and

  7. for internal administration, record-keeping, and improvement of the Service.

We will not use your personal information for any other purpose without your consent, unless permitted or required by law.

5. Who is your information disclosed to?

QCL acts for the developer/vendor client, not for prospective buyers, in relation to the Service (see our Disclaimer for more on this). As part of the Service, we will disclose relevant personal information about prospective buyers to the relevant developer/vendor client, for the purpose of facilitating an introduction and enabling the developer to progress a sale.

We may also disclose personal information to:

  • our professional advisers (for example, our own legal, accounting, or compliance advisers);

  • IT and website service providers who host or support this website and our systems, on a confidential basis;

  • the New Zealand Law Society or other regulatory bodies, where required by law or professional obligation;

  • a prospective buyer’s own lawyer, mortgage broker, or lender, where the buyer has authorised or requested this; and

  • any party where required or authorised by law, including in response to a lawful request from a regulatory or law enforcement authority.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our IT service providers (for example, cloud hosting or email providers) may store or process information on servers located outside New Zealand. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas person or entity, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the information is subject to protections comparable to those under the Privacy Act 2020, as required by Information Privacy Principle 12.

6. Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information we hold from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure, including through the use of access controls, secure systems, and confidentiality obligations on our staff. As a law firm, we are also subject to professional obligations of confidentiality.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to us via this website.

7. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and as required to meet our legal, regulatory, and professional obligations (including record-keeping obligations applicable to law firms). Where information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de- identify it.
